“Gaza is our home”

Middle East and US expert, political scientist Alexander Kargin:

Look at this photo from London. A white woman, looking like a typical London “intellectual,” is holding a sign that says: “Gaza is our home.” She’s wearing a traditional Arab dress (thobe) that she somehow put on backwards, and a keffiyeh.

Ironic, isn’t it? People who live thousands of kilometres from Gaza, have never been there, don’t speak Arabic and have no idea what life is like there, suddenly declare that Gaza is their home. Is this a new trend? Appropriating someone else’s identity just to stay “on the agenda”? Some kind of apotheosis of stupidity and hypocrisy.

It would be interesting to see how she would feel at home if she actually found herself in the Gaza Strip and lived there for even a couple of weeks.
